JR Split File – A Convenient File Splitting and Merging Utility

If you have a large file to send over the internet, you may need this utility program to split the large file into smaller ones and create a standard .bat file that can be used to reconstruct a copy of the original file. The original file is left intact while the “split” files are created from the original.

You can customise the size per file other than those provided with the size drop-down box. The batch file will be automatically created in the same folder as the “split” files and have to be sent together to the receiver.

The receiver only have to place all the “split” files and the batch file in the same folder and double click the batch fill to restore a copy of the original file. There is no need to install any software to do so.

Fix for “Invalid Update Control CTF File” when updating AVG Anti Virus 8.0

Many users of AVG Anti-virus 8.0 Free Edition may have encountered the “Invalid Update Control CTF File” error when updating the anti-virus software. This problem may render the protection out of date. To resolve this problem, you need to remove the CTF temp files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avg8\update\download….Only remove the avginfo files that end with .ctf while leave the others alone will fix the problem. You would have to go to the Control Panel/Folder Options (in Classic view) to enable viewing of hidden file first.

For Windows Vista users, please delete the .ctf files from C:\ProgramData\avg8\update\download after enabling viewing of hidden files.
